When the Summer_91 issue is untarred and uncompressed, it occupies 297K. The Summer_91 Support Bulletin is available on the following Internet archive servers: ________________________________________________________ hostname IP address SupportBulletin-directory ________________________________________________________ sonata.cc.purdue.edu 128.210.15.30 pub/next/docs cs.orst.edu 128.193.32.1 pub/next/documents/SupportBulletins There is an ftp site in Japan for Asian customers: etlport.etl.go.jp 192.31.197.99 pub/NeXT/documents/SupportBulletins Purdue also maintains an email-based archive server, for those without ftp access. Send a message consisting of "help" to archive-server@cc.purdue.edu. If the "From:" line in your message header will not be in Internet format (e.g., name@site.edu), include a line in your message like "path name@site.edu" or "path wellknownsite!yoursite!yourname@uunet.uu.net". Note that neither name@site.bitnet nor name@site.UUCP will work. To retrieve the Support Bulletin from an ftp-based archive server, make sure you have about one megabyte of free space on your disk, then su to root in a Terminal window and type the following commands. mkdirs /LocalLibrary/SupportBulletins cd /LocalLibrary/SupportBulletins ftp hostname-or-IP-address [see table above] [Login:] anonymous [enter your own login name as the password] ftp> binary ftp> cd SupportBulletin-directory [see table above for the name] ftp> get SupportBulletin_Summer_91.tar.Z ftp> quit zcat SupportBulletin_Summer_91.tar.Z | tar -xvf - This creates a subdirectory of /LocalLibrary/SupportBulletins called SupportBulletin_summer_91. After making a backup of SupportBulletin_Summer_91.tar.Z, delete it to save disk space. To access the Support Bulletin from the Digital Librarian, simply drag the directory /LocalLibrary/SupportBulletins/SupportBulletin_summer_91 into the target area of your Digital Librarian bookshelf window. Because it's pre-indexed for Digital Librarian, you need only select the Support Bulletin target file and type in a key word to search for the information you need. Note: Since each issue of the Support Bulletin will be represented by its own distinct target in the Digital Librarian, you may want to create a separate bookshelf dedicated to Support Bulletins for easy reference.
