DragNet is a NEXTSTEP utility that provides drag and drop access to scripts written in perl and popular shells such as sh and csh. Scripts are created in a special window, that when miniaturized, creates a drop well on the Workspace Manager's desktop. When files are dragged from the Workspace Manager, or any other application that sources file names as drag events, and subsequently dropped on a DragNet script icon, that script is executed with the dropped file names as arguments. DragNet manages the spawning of separate processes for each invocation of a script and ensures that multiple instances of a single script are not executed. Script output (stdout and stderr) is captured to a Log panel within DragNet and, if you want, to syslogd. A Processes panel provides for the monitoring and control of scripts which are executing, or queued for execution. DragNet drop icons are aligned automatically along the bottom of the screen with other miniaturized documents. When DragNet is autolaunched from the Workspace Manager at login, saved scripts that were iconified are reassembled on-screen in the same relative order that they had when the application was quit.
